| Galaxy NGC 2977 in the constellation Antila. The NGC is for New General Catalog of Nebulae and Clusters of Stars compiled in 1888. We chose this galaxy because of its unusual spiral arms (note how they extend into the narrow part of the tank) and because the pink and blue nebulae present within show that there are many new stars being born here. |
